With these items, students will be able to self-regulate their emotions and energy while allowing themselves to stay focused in the classroom. These materials will make coping boxes for all of the teachers on my campus. The coping boxes will help students to release built-up energy, emotions, and tension yet still keep them engaged in what they are doing. Teachers and I will have lessons to teach students how to use the coping tools and which tools are for the issue they are currently facing. For example, when a student starts to feel anxious they can blow slowly on a pinwheel to help them slow their breathing and relax. The bright colors on the pinwheel are eye catching an engaging. By using small items students can self regulate without bothering students around them creating a considerate classroom culture. The coping lessons and boxes will explain different emotions, how to recognize them, and how to handle them. Students will then be given time to pratice with coping tools. As emotions are expressed by students, at first, teachers can help them name the emotions and what tool they need to help them get a handle on it. Over time the students will be able to recognize their own emotions and what they need to do to help themselves.
