I am trying to begin a pilot the Math 360 program in my classroom. This program turns every flat surface into an area for students to practice math as long as they have a dry erase marker nearby. The philosophy of this initiative is to have the students explore math anywhere in the classroom during any math activity into a write the room situation. Students and teachers will be able to write examples on the board corresponding with the unit of study, leave them on the board, and exploring the examples as they learn more about the topic. This also allows for students to run error analysis on student work at any point of the class period. Last year my students showed tremendous growth when they were able to use whiteboard markers on their desks to explore math, the ability for them to write on their desks also increased their engagement when it came to the content area. However, this made their desks messy from constant writing and erasing. This lead to their work being hard to read and would cause some frustration. This is where using whiteboard paint on the desks would make their work easier for them to understand, and in turn, keep the students working on math instead of cleaning the tabletops.
