It is my job to create a classroom environment filled with meaningful experiences. Unfortunately, traveling across the world to see ancient ruins during the school year is not feasible for my scholars. To give my scholars the opportunity to become more curious about geography and ignite a sense of adventure would be extremely rewarding. I am eager to show my scholars what excavated ruins looked like hundreds of years ago by fitting them with Google Expedition headsets. With just a few clicks, Google Expedition app allows me to take my scholars on a virtual field trip across the world! This virtual reality tool will show my scholars a 360-degree view of ancient civilizations. I can lead my scholars on a guided tour of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, and China. My lessons will encourage my scholars to use Google Expedition to gain a better understanding of ancient cities, artifacts, geography, and human contribution. I believe Google Expedition will give my sixth graders the opportunity to try new things and build self-confidence; so that one day my scholars will be inspired to see these fascinating structures in person. To develop further interest in our studies, I would like to extend my scholars’ understanding about the history of ancient civilizations through visual representations and engage them in a fun and interactive experience. I believe that Google Expeditions delivers an interactive experience to learning. Traveling through the lens of Google Expedition will encourage students to be more adaptable to changing environments and learn about diversity in the world. Exposing them to different countries will make them more interested in geography and form an understanding of their environment.
