When I first saw that people were giving to my project, I felt a huge wave of appreciation because people understood the many obstacles educators like me were facing in these trying times. My donors saw the effort I was putting into trying to keep connected to my students who were learning remotely due to the pandemic and wanted to show they understood and supported me. Reading the comments left by my donors made me teary eyed because I could feel the love and support being shown to me. Receiving the boxes as they were delivered to my room felt like Christmas morning!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Charles Butt Foundation and 2 other donors.

These books and workbooks will continue to enhance the print rich classroom that I strive to achieve. My classroom library is a place that my students love to sit and read on the carpet, where they can go to have a calm place to refocus or work and read independently. With these books and workbooks, my students will be able to practice their fluency to become better readers and be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently on their own grade level and foster that love of reading. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more. This project will only help them enrich their experiences with the printed word.
