I am a teacher of primary special needs students that live in inner city Las Vegas that are also at the poverty level. One of the items that I choose for them is the Cricut machine. We have a lot of school themed days that involve Legos, Dr. Seuss, Disney, Harry Potter, Ties, Tie Dye, etc. Most of my students parents can't afford to go out and buy or even make the t-shirts or outfits for our school theme days in which most of the students feel left out. The Cricut will allow me to make sure that they are able to participate in themed activity days and feeling like they are a part of the day. I will be able to create t-shirts, hats, projects, and multiple items that will help them to learn and participate while having fun. Often times the special needs students are forgotten and a Cricut is a way of making them feel like they are a part of the general population. I want them to be able to say, Hey check out my shirt, we read The Cat and The Hat and now look at him on my shirt!" My special need students are uniqe in every way and they love learning, they love life, and they love to love. The other item that I choose for them will definitly have them at the top of the cool kids list because everyone will be talking about it. An egg incubator so that they will learn about the life cycle of a baby chick, live and right in their own classroom. I am so excited for them because this is another thing that will keep them all engaged and talking and excited to come to school ready to learn right next to baby chicks.
