My students need activities so they can have daily concrete learning experiences. When they hear it, they forget it. When they see it, they might remember some of it but when they do it, they understand it. The students in my room come in and go to work. They don't need me to start the day. The requested, concrete activities will give these students activities to be independent learners. Independent work is where the students practice a skill they have learned. They are able to work along with their peers and share their knowledge and maybe their language as well with fellow students who are language learners who need to practice their new emerging language.
