The students at my school have traditionally been supplied with books, pencils, and paper. There is a computer lab available, but it must be shared by the entire school. This limits availability. Most surrounding districts have gone to a 1:1 computer policy that provides each student a device to use all the time. This makes it difficult for our students to learn on the same level. These computers will allow my students to access all of the online material available through the textbook companies, along with many other online resources. I can set up a computer station in my classroom and provide online lab activities/dissections, remediation for struggling students, higher-level, engaging activities for high-performing students. Students will also be able to research selected topics on the internet, which is something most of them cannot do at their home. It will help open doors for them not only to graduate, but to excel beyond graduation.
