  • STEAM Project For Our Kindergartners!

    My students screamed with excitement when I opened the boxes of Legos. They couldn't believe that these were for them! We have already built tracks and Lego items (such as the train). This Friday will be our 1st attempt at coding the train on the tracks. To extend the learning across the building, our special needs 5th graders will be joining us to support the kindergarten. The momentum has been building and the time is here! This introduction to coding has already made a huge impact and their love of school. They ask for Computer Science time everyday. They are hooked! The resources requested for this project will provide my students with opportunities to extend their learning beyond traditional methods. I plan to use these resources to extend on our lessons and create individualized learning centers around the room. By using a flexible seating model, my students will be able to use these supplies anywhere in the classroom. Many of my students struggle with direct instruction and thrive when their own learning styles have been tapped into. With the support of these materials, my students will have the ability to explore learning in new ways and use their understanding to build confidence as well as strengthen their academic foundations.
