Our class focuses on the design cycle where we inquire and analyze a problem, develop ideas of how to solve that problem, create solution and then evaluate our work. These computers will help at every stage. Initially, they will allow students to research situations happening in the real world and prioritize where the current problem lies. They will then analyze existing products that attempt to solve the problem, looking at real life applications and where current options fail to meet the need. They will use design software on the computer to develop design diagrams and drawings as they make a plan. Once they've used the computers to research and build, both digitally and physically based on their models, they will use them to evaluate what they built. Communication via Skype, email and other digital methods allows them to use experts in different fields as an evaluation measure for what they're made. It also allows them to share their designs and hopefully offer real ideas to people currently attempting to solve the problems they've researched.
