Imagination Station!

I am beyond ecstatic to share with you that our littles are getting the best free exploration time with the play kitchen. Dramatic play is enhancing their social skills and role playing continues to target vocabulary development. The opportunities to increase speech and communication skills is unimaginable as oral development is the foundation to early literacy skills.

The students eyes lit up when they saw the giant box. The students curiously inquired and a teachable moment is never a missed opportunity for making inferences and predictions. The students actually helped with the throwing of trash after we unveiled the kitchenette. The students verbalized descriptions of the kitchenette. They all had a time to use the kitchenette during free exploration and center time.

The next steps, is for our class to focus on thematic units and incorporate this area into our daily instruction. We have a summer theme that I've created lessons for. In out kitchenette we will have fruits and vegetables that are in season such as watermelons and cantaloupe. We will also be counting strawberries and measuring liquids by utilizing measuring cups and teaspoons. This activity will address math and science. To incorporate art, the student will create magnets supporting art foundational skills. Thank you for everyone who contributed. Your generosity will not go unnoticed. Every child deserves a quality education especially in the early years when these years mold and shape little minds. You've helped in ways you can't even begin to imagine. Keep giving back wholeheartedly.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Resendez
