Students in Kindergarten spend a lot of time working with phonemes and letters. They learn to manipulate sounds to further expand their reading vocabulary. One of my goals as a teacher is to help students "Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words." (RF.K.3.). The magnetic letters and beads listed in this project will allow students to practice segmenting and blending phonemes to make words. In math, students have many counting goals. Students are expected to organize and count items and "Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities" (K.CC.B.) After teaching these skills in whole group, students require time to practice. The ten frame boards will allow students to organize quantities and count them accurately. These resources will allow students to review and practice these foundational skills independently and in groups while the teacher is working with a small group. This project will ensure the needs of all students are addressed to further promote academic success.
