Wonder Workshop Dash Robots have infinite uses and provide numerous opportunities for unique, 21st century learning experiences for students. For example, I would create a poster of the pumpkin life cycle to place on the ground, and students would retell/tell about what happens at each stage of the pumpkin life cycle through talking into the bot (which will then retell it in a special robot voice, how cool! Plus students are hearing and acquiring that information again), all while coding the robot to move as needed through each part of the noted on the poster pumpkin life cycle. Additionally, as students are coding the robot to move, they are learning directions, positions (right, left, forward, backward), reading (you can bet my students are going to learn those words real fast on the coding program!), numbers and measurement (to know just how far their robot should go), and so much more! The possibilities with Wonder Workshop Dash Robots are limitless, and I know my students will learn greatly with them!
Providing my students with Wonder Workshop Dash Robots will increase their learning and exposure to not only coding, but also the many content subject areas the robots can be used with. I envision my students using Wonder Workshop Dash Robots with English Language Arts to retell stories, Science to explain different processes and life cycles, Social Studies to explain past, present, and future we learn and predict about, and all while engaging in computer coding and more.
I first discovered Wonder Workshop Dash Robots at a Computer Science Playground where I had the opportunity to try out different Computer Science based learning experiences for students. When I tried the Wonder Workshop Dash Robots, I quickly knew my students would just love them and be so engaged if given the chance.
