We as a teaching community have been differentiating lessons for some time now, it only makes sense to differentiate the environment as well! When students have a chance to build a community of learners together and can do this comfortably, it will lead to success beyond academic learning. I am excited to have different seating options in my classroom to allow community building and collaboration. The classroom rug is the item that will help me with community building the most. I began using morning meetings last year. This was a time where I provided my students opportunities to become leaders. They discussed things that they felt were important, offered advice to each other, and gave shout outs to one another for accomplishments they made. A classroom rug would provide a comfortable meeting space where all of my students could sit together, and face one another to have these important conversations. The wobble stools and the floor seats would provide more flexible seating around the classroom and allow for students to differentiate their learning environment so that they can successfully work
