Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times students choose a location in the classroom where they can focus best. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room by sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating, whether it be independent work, partner work, or small group work. Students are much more engaged and less disruptive to their peers when allowed the choice of flexible seating.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them comfortable seating choices in order to work more effectively in class. The beanbag chairs and comfy folding chairs will allow for comfortable floor seating options in our classroom library area. The kneeling pads and seat cushions will provide a lightweight and mobile seating choice that can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. The bounce bands will be very beneficial by providing a silent outlet for students who need to move, without disrupting their peers.
Providing flexible seating option in my class has positively affected my students' work and behavior. I'm hoping that these additional flexible seating options will help our classroom family's success grow even more!
