In 8th grade math, we only produce Gr8ness! The materials within this project is to not only enhance my learning environment, but also to provide necessary materials for different units I'll be teaching in 8th grade math. In order to have a successful learning environment, I need the necessities. Within my list, you'll see a stapler, pencil sharpener, easel pad, EXPO markers, index cards, pencils, pencil boxes for each table, and the hanging pocket file to place guided notes through the week. I plan to use the laminator to regularly laminate resources students can use within a unit. With all of these materials, my classroom will be well prepared from my incoming students. An empty wall promotes an empty mind. I believe the algebra posters will provide my students access to complete and push through rigorous content. I plan to use the tracing paper as an aid once we begin our transformations unit. I plan to use the 3D geometric shapes within our volume and surface area unit. I plan to regularly use the meter sticks, but I specifically find them useful once we have out Pythagorean Theorem unit. When given side length measurements of a triangle, students go outside and sketch out the triangles with the meter sticks to determine whether it proves the Pythagorean theorem.
