Thank you so much donating to my project. I’m so excited to have the new art supplies for next year. I ran out of my class set of dry erase markers and my pencil sharpener has been broken for a while so the new supplies are very much appreciated. Also, I’m so excited to have BrainPop again next year.”

  • Science Experiment Materials and Storage

    Funded Dec 22, 2021

The project you helped to fund has immensely helped my students. It has been so great to actually be able to do the labs that are in my science books. My sixth graders were able to use the play-doh to create different rock layers. I used the small rocks that are now stored in the bins as fossils for the sedimentary layers. The play-doh has also been used to help students calm down when they are antsy.

I was able to use the balloons in a lab in fourth grade. I blew up the balloons and then constructed a scale for students to see if air had weight to it. According to a few kids, it was the "best day ever". They especially loved it when I popped the balloons.

My fifth graders played "The Allowance Game" today. This game was a great way to practice counting money. They also had to transfer the amounts of money using different bills and coins in order for the bank to have the correct change. At one point a student said "Miss Piburn, I think this game is actually math". Overall, I am so thankful for the project being funded because I can already tell it is making students have a more meaningful learning experience.”

  • Personal Hygiene Project

    Funded Sep 6, 2021

This project has impacted so many more people than just my students. The day that my supplies were delivered I had a lot of interest in the cool new hygiene products from the kids. All 21 of my students took home the supplies they needed and then supplies their parents or siblings needed. Then, I opened up the supplies for the rest of the school. I was able to give bags of supplies to students in high school and lower elementary. I was surprised that tooth paste and deodorant were the most popular products. I know have empty bins because the supplies were used, which is the goal. Overall, thank you for donating to this project because I know the impact has gone beyond my classroom.”

  • Rad Digital Resources

    Funded Jul 27, 2021

My students have loved having BrainPop and BreakoutEdu! Students have been using the BreakoutEdu games to reinforce their classroom learning and to practice their social emotional learning. During October students were able to try to crack the codes on the Halloween themed games with a partner. Working together is a very valuable skill for the students.

I have been using the BrainPop website for science and health classes. We have watched the "salt" video many times in my fifth grade health class. For some reason, the kids especially love that one! Each of the BrainPop videos has a corresponding quiz that requires kids to really think to answer the questions. I find that the BrainPop videos are also great at introducing a topic. Tim and the robot Moby are quite funny.”

    Mrs. Brown

  • STEM Supplies

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

My students have LOVED having the new STEM supplies. Students have been able to work independently on the STEM bins. I have seen their creativity flourish with what they are building. Students who often choose to read are instead choosing to try something new. The bins have also forced the students to use their critical thinking skills. One of the games I received is focused on having student solve traffic issues. They need to figure out how to move a car through traffic, it is a puzzle game.

I would also like to thank you for funding a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card. I have used it to buy access to various worksheets and escape rooms that help enforce what we have been learning in class. The escape rooms are academically challenging but also engaging enough to use as a reward for early finishers.”

  • Graphic Novels

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

I really have enjoyed reading our new sets of graphic novels. We will be using them in our next ELA unit. Since telling my students that we will be reading and creating graphic novels, they have been reading graphic novels on their own. The graphic novels deal with middle schoolers who are facing tough changes and show a lot of grit. Our school's theme this year is "GRIT" so the books go along perfectly.

I would also like to thank you for the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card! I have been able to purchase some health worksheets, multiple math sheets and the needed curriculum for the graphic novels.”

I am requesting yoga mats for my fourth grade class to help teach self awareness, mindfulness and stress management. I would like to begin each day with a social/emotional lesson and would be using the yoga mats during such time. I believe that teaching yoga will allow my students to become in touch with their minds and bodies, allowing them to gain self control. I would like to have yoga mats for my students to use to create a soft surface for students to practice on rather that the tile floor. I would like to have daily yoga practices and I think my students would be more comfy on the mats.
