Headphones for Success Is a Win Win for Everyone!
Funded Aug 30, 2023My class was so excited to get nice headphones! The colors are so bright and cheery. I let them choose what color they wanted which made them more excited to get their own pair. I have had several students tell me how comfortable these headphones are compared to the cheap one provided by the school.
The most exciting part of receiving these headphones is the impact they have had in my classroom. Students do not have to share headphones to do their reading assignments on the computer program Amira. This helps keep everyone on task and there is no wasting time waiting for a pair of headphones. The headphones also help block out classroom noise allowing for better focus while they are independently working on assignments and iReady lessons. I have also noticed how well my students take care of their pair and I don't find them laying on the floor with the cord tangled up getting stepped on.
Thanks again for your generous donation. The positive impact these headphones have in the classroom will help my students have a successful school year!”

A Potpourri of Important Things
Funded Jan 22, 2022Thank you so much for your thoughtful donation to my classroom. My students from the last school year benefited greatly as will my incoming students this school year. I was able to use the books I received with my guided reading groups and they were a big hit! The year end gift I was able to give my students left them with positive affirmations about themselves that they can keep and look back on. It was also a huge hit! Because of your generous donation I was able to get a jump start on birthday and welcome back treats this summer since I didn't need to wait on funding from the school. Being able to accomplish this task early has saved me valuable time this week while getting my classroom ready for the beginning of the school year next week.”

Funded Apr 7, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project. I received the items just in time for the end of year testing.
The game buzzers added an element of fun to our daily reviews. All of my students anxiously waited for their turn to answer a question so they could press the buzzer. It was especially fun to watch the students work together as a team to solve math problems and then run to be the first to press the buzzer. It was a little crazy at times but lots of fun.
Because of your donation my students my students were able to have working headphones while they took the RISE test and a case to keep them in when they were not using them. The cases really helped keep the headphones untangled and off of the floor.
We were able to read one of the three read aloud books I received before the school year ended. I look forward to reading the other two next year with a new group of students.
Thank you for supporting public education.”

New Whiteboards for a New School Year!
Funded Sep 13, 2020It was an exciting day when my students received their new whiteboards! The look on their faces was priceless when I gave them their new clean whiteboard. These boards easily fit inside their desks. It is a quick and smooth transition each time we use them.
These whiteboards are used daily in math as we do a quick review of the previous day's concept. Some days we just practice math problems on the whiteboards. I can easily see who is struggling, understanding, and mastering the skill being taught. This quick assessment guides my instruction as I teach my lessons. I have a group of students who stay after school for extra math help and use these boards then as well.
Another way we use these whiteboards is during guided reading. During this time I target skills each individual reading group needs during a quick word work lesson. Struggling readers who receive extra reading help also use them in their pull out LLI reading group as well.
Pencil sharpening is not an issue any more in class. Time spent at the pencil sharpener is pretty much gone. I can sharpen a bunch of pencils in just a few minutes each morning and have sharp pencils readily available for my students.
These small items have had and will continue to have a huge positive impact in my classroom each day!”

Funded Dec 4, 2019It is a bit of a struggle to express how much gratitude my students and I have for your generous donation. It has had a tremendous impact on the classroom environment. I will try and put the positive effect on my class into words.
The biggest impact on the classroom environment has been the headphones and cases to store them in. There were only a few students who were able to bring headphones from home and I didn't have enough to give each student a pair. Although most of the chromebooks had the volume turned down it was hard for many students to concentrate with the noise. Now my classroom is silent when students are working on their chromebooks. Students can listen to mini lessons on reading strategies and tips on how to improve their writing from various websites we use without disturbing others around them who are working on their own lessons. I didn't anticipate the sense of responsibility these kids would have with their own pair of headphones and their own case. At the end of each day they carefully put their headphones into their case and hang them from the charging cord of their chromebook. I never find them on the floor or shoved into their desks. Having stools and whiteboard dots at the back table has freed up some much needed space. The stools slide under the table when not in use and I don't need a set of whiteboards stacked at the back table for reteaching and word work. The watercolor paper came just in time for the students to create a Christmas card for their parents. We have also used the paper to paint a winter scene. We are looking forward to creating more watercolor art in the future. Small items like the pencil sharpeners have been so helpful. We don't have a pencil problem anymore! The sharpeners are quiet and they actually work! We are anxiously awaiting some warm spring weather so we can get outside and use the bases in games of kickball and baseball.
Thank you for your generous gift to my classroom. As you can tell, these items have had such a huge effect on my students. I'm amazed at how responsible these students are when they use the various items and the positive environment that has developed with them.”
