Requiring students to turn in their cell phones during school time increases their likelihood of success. While cell phones have become a cultural necessity, they are a distraction in the classroom. Our students come to us from a wide geographic area and some of them are on the bus for over an hour. We cannot ask them to not have a means of communication with their family members, so having a safe and secure place for them to store their phones during school time is a must. Removing distractions, allows students to focus on self-improvement, learning and changing their behavior.
