Flexible seating will allow students to take control of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Students like the ability to choose where they work indepently. By having this ability, students are able to complete their work in a timely manner. My students currently chose to work in various locations throughout the classroom (working with a clipboard, sitting on the floor, under tables, etc.).Ensuring that the students in my classroom are comfortable is a key component for motivation. Students frequently make good choices about where they sit, they are more engaged with the work to be completed, and they have a better learning experience when they have options of seating instead of just sitting at their desk. With the pandemic, social/emotional behavior is at the top of our list. With some students missing in person instruction for the past two years, learning how to deal with BIG emotions will help them succeed. Learning coping skills during a pandemic has been taxing on students, however, these resources will help the students in my classroom understand how to deal with emotions.
