  • Human Geography Classroom Supplies

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

It is with deepest gratitude that I thank you for helping my classroom become a more dynamic and engaging environment. Thanks to your generous donations, my students have been able to find new ways to make human geography come alive.

Supplies such as pencils, pens, colored pencils, and more can often be taken for granted. These necessities often need to be replaced, and replacing them causes a lot of stress for my students. Thanks to your donations, my students can rely on having a classroom with the resources they need to succeed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mizzi

  • Pronouns, Pins, and Paint!

    Funded Oct 2, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous support for my students' identities. Through your generous donations, we were able to purchase art supplies to complete a student mural as well as materials to create more pronoun pins for the school. The mural was not only an opportunity to showcase the talents of one of our Broncos, but it also created a learning environment where students get to see their personal interests represented and validated. School is a place that embraces who they are, thanks to the contributions you made to make this possible. Thank you.”

  • Gender Inclusivity in the Classroom!

    Funded Sep 19, 2021

Thank you for giving my students the gift of visibility. After 18 months of remote learning and isolation, creating safe spaces for students where they can process their feelings, affirm their identities, and build community have been of the utmost importance. Thanks to your generous donations, we have helped build and support those spaces.

After receiving the materials for this project, we held a pin-making event for the Gender and Sexuality Alliance where they would be able to create pins for themselves to inaugurate our pin-making for the school. The student response was joyously overwhelming. We had to open additional classrooms to accommodate the number of students who wanted to participate, which is impressive considering that our classrooms specialize in overcrowding. You made that happen. Thank you for recognizing and asserting the importance of who are students are as individuals and as a community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mizzi

  • Geography in Technicolor!

    Funded Aug 16, 2019

It is with deepest gratitude that I thank you for helping my classroom become a more dynamic, multimedia environment. Thanks to your generous donations, my students have been able to engage with images related to folk and popular culture that are not grayscale, analyze choropleth maps, participate in learning walks using post-it notes and colorful markers, and find new ways to make human geography come alive.

Supplies such as pencils, pens, colored pencils, and more can often be taken for granted. These necessities often need to be replaced and replacing them causes a lot of stress for my students. Thanks to your donations, my students can rely on having a classroom with the resources they need to succeed. As much as they appreciate the color images and the better sound for videos, they also just enjoy being able to sniff the scented markers and choose which colored post-it note they need.

As the students further develop their map skills, they will be able to make better use of GIS technology by creating and printing maps related to our upcoming units on Political and Economic geography. They will be able to illustrate their graphic novel depicting the Iran-Palestinian Conflict. They will be able to do so much, thanks to you all.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mizzi

Using, analyzing, and interpreting maps that present different data sets is essential to the AP Human Geography curriculum, and my students typically must engage with grayscale versions that are barely legible. The color printer and ink will enable us to do more activities that use such stimuli, an essential skill in the newly designed AP Human Geography curriculum. The post-it notes will be incorporated regularly throughout class as annotation tools, asynchronous discussion boards, and other activities. The markers, colored pencils, and paper will help provide diverse ways to engage with the material in collaborative learning activities, where students can create concept webs, political cartoons, and anything else that helps them explore how they learn best.
