Lifecycle of a Butterfly

Funded Jul 15, 2022

We just wanted to say thank you for allowing us the opportunity to bring Science into the classroom. Our project was a little behind but it was a learning experience for us. We were having problems with our school's air conditioner and the room was to cold. When we received our caterpillars and set up their habitat, they unfortunately died. This helped us to further understand the type of climate needed.

Once the ac unit was fixed, we were able to reorder the caterpillars. The students were so excited and we even named our caterpillars. The students made daily observations and recorded their finding in a daily journal along with class discussions.

The students were so excited to see the transformation. Once they became butterflies we experimented with different kinds of fruits and made predictions on which fruits would get eaten. It was the perfect season of Spring and the flowers were out. We started to see butterflies outside at recess and we knew it was time to release our butterflies. It was a wonderful and memorable moment and we can't thank you enough for funding the classroom supplies along with the butterfly kits.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Calhoun
