Last year our district promoted the "Live Kind" motto to filter all throughout the elementary, middle and high schools. McKinney ISD believes that when we all "live kind," people will keep spreading the wealth of kindness. Thus, resulting in better school environments for our youth, and in turn, a better society outside of the walls of a school building. To promote more kindness acts in Scott Johnson Middle School, I created a club, called Kindness Patrol. Each week students would brainstorm different ideas for kids to model kindness. They had some amazing ideas.
This year, our district has encouraged everyone to go a little bit further and "LIVE KIND 2.0." Therefore, this project could help encourage our youth to choose kindness every time. In choosing kindness, by helping others, the students last year created the idea of kindness or positive thought bracelets, and also positive cards to put in their binder or planners. This simple card or bracelet could change the mindset of our youth, by having it as simple reminder of how important they are, AND how important it is to be kind. We want to create a ripple effect in our school and in generations that follow. The LIVE KIND 2.0 is just one way we can continue this journey.
