Supplemental Novels
Funded Aug 20, 2024We are incredibly grateful for your generous donation to our classroom. Your support has allowed us to purchase supplemental novels that will enrich our students' reading experiences. These books will help foster a love of reading, improve comprehension, and expand our students' imaginations. These books will break up the monotonous use of the textbook in our class. This historical fiction will give students insight into the problems many people faced during the Holocaust.
In our classroom reading is down in whole group, small group, and independently. Students will enjoy this fast paced story and be able to make connections to the events in the story and the lessons learned in their history class. Thank you again for your generosity.”

Promoting Literacy
Funded May 6, 2022Thank you so much for funding our literacy project. With your help we were able to grow our little classroom library with high interest novels of all genres. These books are used every week in our special education English class. One of the main skills we are practicing is summarizing the text with main ideas and supporting details. Giving students novels they enjoy reading has made this activity more enjoyable.
Every Friday, the entire class silently reads a book of their choice for 15 min. After the 15 min, each student summarizes what they read. When they finish the book they rate it on a scale from 1-5 and decide if they would recommend the book to future readers. My students have really come to enjoy our Friday silent reading.
My students have been so engaged in the books that they even decide to read when they finish their classwork early. This project has been a huge success and I hope to continue growing my library over time.”

Funded Aug 10, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! Having hands on manipulatives in the classroom has been so helpful to students' learning. Tactile learners have really benefited from using the manipulatives.
The students were so excited to see all the different materials that were inside the box. We use many of the materials everyday in our classroom. The whiteboards and flash cards have been very useful in our classroom. Students have the opportunity to practice high frequency words daily.
We will continue to use the manipulatives in our classroom and build on the students abilities. Thank you again for your generous contributions to our classroom. It is very appreciated.”

Funded Aug 8, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. My students use the flexible seating everyday in our classroom. Having the wobble cushions and wobble stools are very beneficial to my students who have difficulties sitting still. The students really enjoy sitting on the yoga balls during SGRI.
When the students first saw the flexible seats they were so thrilled! Watching the students open the boxes was very exciting. The students absolutely love using the yoga balls.
The next step for my project is to look into getting even more flexible seating for the students. Right now there is not enough for all students and they currently have to take turns and share. Fortunately, my students have been so great with sharing with their peers. Thank you again for your generous contribution!”

Funded Aug 8, 2019This project has made a tremendous impact in my classroom. As previously stated, I work with students with special needs in grades 4, 5, and 6. My students' reading abilities vary greatly from a first grade reading level to a fifth grade reading level. Being able to have a classroom library full of books of all reading levels has been very helpful. Students have a lot more choices in each reading level.
It has also been very helpful that every book is an accelerated reading book. Our school puts a great emphasis on reading and encourages classes to participate in weekly AR quizzes. My students love to take AR quizzes and see themselves get closer and closer to their AR goal.
Not only do students get to take AR quizzes on the books, but they get to read books that interest them. It is so important to provide students with books that interest them so they get excited about reading. My students love to grab a book and lay in the reading corner. Thank you again for making this happen.”
