  • Fine Motor Frenzy!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. The excitement on my students' faces when our materials rolled in was priceless. They were especially excited because the playdoh was scented!

This has been a challenging year to be a kindergarten teacher due to the pandemic. What I know is best for my students academically is not best for them in terms of keeping them safe and healthy. Having these fine motor materials has made it so I can give each student a fine motor kit to play with while social distancing from their peers. Thank you for helping to make that happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Laue

  • Wobble While You Work

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

Thank you so much for donating towards wobble cushions for my students. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness more than you could imagine. This year is challenging because my students are required to stay in their seats for the majority of the day. These wobble cushions give them the opportunity to get some of their wiggles our while they are working and playing independently.

In a year where everything seems wrong, thanks for making us see the light. My students get very excited when it is their turn to have a wiggle seat. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Laue

  • Hands-on Learning in Kindergarten

    Funded May 5, 2020

In a year where things are so different from normal, my students were SO excited to get a package filled to the brim with activities that are easily able to be sanitized. My kiddos have had so much fun at the light table the past couple of days and I know the fun will continue throughout the school year with the manipulatives and sorting trays that you provided for us. The container of double dice are a blessing as well! Now I have enough for each child to have his or her own double dice. Centers that I was feeling were not going to be possible this year are starting to be imagined in a slightly different way. Thank you so much for helping me keep the magic in kindergarten this year!”

  • Kindergarten is a "Ball"!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

The excitement on my students faces when the boxes started arriving is something that is difficult to explain with words. I teach kindergarten and these kids struggle with sitting still. Many times they are leaning back in their chairs which is not safe for them. The ball chairs allow for my students to move while working in a safe way. Of all of my flexible seating options, the three ball chairs are thee first to be chosen. The students all want a turn and wait patiently for their turn. It is amazing how much something as simple as a ball chair can light up a students day. Thank you for providing that for my students.”

  • Glow Day in K!

    Funded Oct 23, 2019

WOW! The excitement in my kindergarten classroom today was through the roof. It was amazing to see 5 and 6 year old kids so excited to learn. We used our black lights for the entire day today. They learned through glowing math and literacy centers. One of their favorite things of the day, was making glowing volcanoes using glow in the dark neon paint, baking soda and vinegar. They also really enjoying using highlighters to color pictures and write numbers and words.

It made my day to hear many kindergarten students exclaim "THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!" Your generosity made that possible. Thank you for believing in my project and providing my students with a learning experience they will not forget any time soon. The other kindergarten teachers in my school are looking forward to borrowing our GLOW DAY supplies to allow their kiddos to experience GLOW DAY as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Laue

In my classroom I believe in giving my students choices. One of the biggest choices I give my students is where they sit and what they will sit on in my room. Currently I have floor cushions, Hokki stools, and regular chairs available to my students. Flexible seating allows my students to be comfortable while learning. Gone are the days of sitting in a chair and working all day long. Classrooms that are student-centered are successful. By giving my students additional seating options, I am empowering them to choose the seating options that best helps them learn and best keeps them comfortable in the classroom. Yoga balls have been a favorite of my students in the past, but I always had trouble with them rolling away. The ball chair gives the students the ability to utilize the yoga ball, and the ball stays where it is intended to be. I also appreciate the flexibility of the ball chairs, as they could also be moved to our meeting space with ease. Flexible seating also teaches my students responsibility. In order to utilize the flexible seating, they have to learn the rules and respect them. Flexible seating, especially the yoga ball chairs, require a lot of responsibility as they are fragile and misuse could result in broken chairs or, even worse, hurt children. By donating to my project you are empowering my students to learn responsibility and are empowering them to take control of their own learning environment.
