These materials will make a huge difference in my students learning by offering support to them on a more social emotional level. If students basic needs (such as physiological needs and safety needs) are not met, students will struggle to succeed academically. Many of my students do not know what they are going home to, where dinner will come from, or where they are sleeping that night. School is a place of comfort and consistency for them. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel safe and that their basic needs are met, so that they can achieve in their academics. With these materials, I can create a trauma sensitive classroom, that allows students to be comfortable in their learning environment. These materials will also allow me to facilitate more social emotional lessons that are fun, effective, and that fosters connection to their peers.
