  • 6th Grade Supplies and Fun!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

This past school year my classroom received your amazing donations for school supplies and games.

These supplies were essential for my students to be able to work creatively and collaboratively on worksheets, projects, and presentations. Without them we would not have been able to design science projects or create graphical representations in math class.

The games provided structure during our Fun Fridays and were essential in our now annual Connect 4 tournament during Fun Day this year.

While I know this letter is coming a little late, I appreciate your understanding that the school year is extremely busy and sometimes I need the summer to be able to reach out. Thank you again for everything you do for me and my students, I hope your summer is restful and relaxing!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stuart

  • 6th Grade Headphones!

    Funded Feb 1, 2023

Earlier this year you contributed to a project to fund headphones for the 6th grade classrooms at Hunter Elementary. I am sorry that it has taken this long for me to send you a proper letter of gratitude, but here we are.

First of all, thank you so much for contributing to this project, this community has shown up for me so many times but each time I am still so honored and humbled by the support, it truly means so much to me and my students.

The headphones were a HUGE hit, the students loved that they each has their own pair and didn't have to share with anyone, and I loved that they could all do work individually and be able to access videos, audiobooks, and other media. These headphones were also especially helpful to my students who receive extra learning support because they could have audio guides for different tests that other students don't receive, this really helped them perform of these assessments.

Thank you again, and apologies for the delayed letter, I hope you are all enjoying the summer!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stuart

  • A Comfy Classroom

    Funded Jul 19, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to my classroom. My students have loved using the pillows and cushions every day. The decor has made my classroom a bright, safe, and colorful space for my students to enter every day.

The pillows and wobble cushions are used every day for flexible seating during our independent reading time. The students get to line up and pick out what they would like to use that day. It's gotten so popular that I needed a chart to make sure the kids take turns and everyone gets access!

The posters, borders, and laminator have improved the look and feel of my classroom immensely and my students love learning in there every day.

Thank you again for your kind and generous donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stuart

  • Expanding Our Library!

    Funded Nov 8, 2021

Thank you so much for helping fund the expansion of our classroom library! These new books are going to mean so much to my students, I cannot wait to see the look on their faces when they arrive. I am also so excited to teach Ghost and that we will forever have a class set. You have truly made a difference in the lives of my students, thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stuart

  • Middle School Science Station

    Funded Aug 22, 2020

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your donations to my lab cart and supplies. This cart has been essential for delivering science instruction virtually.

My students and I have used the cart for a variety of experiments such as: Does air have mass? What happens when we combine baking soda and vinegar? Does popcorn pop bigger if it's wet? How fast do air molecules move? and many others. The most memorable day with the cart was our popcorn experiments where the students decided how to conduct an experiment testing if soaking water in popcorn made it pop larger (spoiler, it does!). They student loved being able to see the popcorn pop and I used the hot plate and scale to change water temperatures and make sure we measured equal amounts of popcorn kernels.

Here are some messages from my students:

Thank you for the lab cart, due to you we were able to do experiments and learn with a better experience -Aiden

I wanna thank you all who donated to help us get experiments and other things you guys helped us for we are so thankful for you guys donating. You have a kind heart and am glad for what you guys have gave us. -Misael

Thank you making virtual a little more fun in science -Najah

Thanks for giving me and my classmates a better learning opportunity -7th Grader

Thank you for taking time out of your day and making sure we had stuff to learn and had fun experiments- 7th Grader

This cart has helped me so much and I cannot wait to bring it back to the classroom to perform in person experiments with my students. Thank you again and happy holidays!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stuart

During the first quarter of the year my students will be learning virtually. This means they will have no access to a lab space of any kind. My hope is to bring the lab to them through my computer so they can see lab experiments in real time. Currently my supply consists of some beakers and graduated cylinders. With my lab cart I would have a science station to put those beakers to use. Using the scale I can show students how to measure, and tare the weights of whatever they are measuring. With the hot plate I can show water changing states of matter from ice, to liquid water, and then to water vapor. Once finished, I can store my supplies safely in the dish rack. Once we're back at school the scales can be used by my students so they can apply what they've learned at home back to the classroom. These supplies will ensure that my students will be ready for labs in high school and college. This will help inspire them to become scientists and prepare them for what they will see in higher education. Furthermore students will be able to witness and later safely participate in hands on learning. These fundamental skills will be useful to them not only in future science classes but in life. Working together, measuring, conducting observations, and analyzing results are not exclusive to the field of science. These tools can help them with life lessons that will follow them past my classroom.
