Empowering Readers

Students have really enjoyed being able to have a bigger selection of literature. With the tablets, they virtually have a limitless selection to choose from. I have created an entire daily workstation around that tool. It is used in class in conjunction with graphic organizers.
The noise cancelling headphones have been a hit! Students who enjoy silence during reading, really like to use these. It has helped students become accustomed to seeing others with them on. That was my initial intention. I wanted to make one of our autistic students feel not so singled out.
Students also love the addition to our book collection.

The materials requested will make an impact in my classroom because they will provide access to more literature in the classroom. New standards for 2019/2020 school year now require teachers to integrate multimodal opportunities for students to learn. Your contribution will be impacting the classroom by providing additional reading resources of different formats at different complexity levels and genres. This is the real world evolution of text that students face. Making these resources available to students will enhance their literature experience and set them up for success. Although students will always enjoy classic stories, they tend to gravitate to new and fresh literature. This upcoming year, I am looking to incorporate even more opportunities to read. This goal will be made possible with a larger selection of books and resources available to our eager students. This is a crucial time for them to understand that reading is power through knowledge.
