Science! Don't Just Touch It, Hear It and Create It!
Funded Dec 31, 2022My students have used their headphones daily! They get on Summit k12 for a recap of the lessons we have already taught. The headphones were a huge help as they are all on different topics. They were excited to always have them readily accessible. Then they created their own anchor charts for notebooks and for the walls. The posters make a huge difference when the students create them themselves, versus me making them and talking about them. They would get so excited when it was their turn to use the good supplies for their posters and notebooks! Sometimes, I use their notebooks to review with the class if their anchor chart stands out and has all the correct information. This creates healthy competition on making a good anchor chart. The Science STAAR test is tomorrow, so their notebooks have gone home for them to review and study for their test. Parents have commented on their great illustrations!”

Science Is My Super Power!
Funded Oct 2, 2022Thank you for donating to our project this year! My students are getting to measure and investigate with hands on activities all year. We separated mixtures with the sieve and strainer, then use the magnets to remove the iron fillings. We created our own water cycle in the classroom with a pot of water on the burner and a skillet filled with ice above it. My kids got to understand how heat will make water evaporate AND only water evaporates, not salt or any other powdery substance. We tested which type of soil would retain water the most. Students were immediately able to see that the most common potting soil drains water the fastest! The best part of all of this is when I am facilitating an experiment, I don't have to worry about dirtying my clothes because I can wear my lab coat!”
