Students will be able to visualize the board books in the classroom much easier with an easel. They will also be able to hang their backpacks neatly so they can feel comfortable that they have an area to put their things and organized to begin teaching them about keeping your space neat and tidy. Students need a safe space to come to that feels comfortable and home-like because many times the classroom is their only safe environment. These organizational tools are essential to have in a first grade classroom. We use large board books for almost every story we read in class and many students have a hard time seeing the pages when I'm holding it and trying to point to certain things on the page and trying to read backwards.
