Learning letter names and sounds is the foundation to reading. These tubs offer real world examples and are a great way for kids to be able to learn the sounds and then distinguish the sounds. These tubs would allow my students to choose an item and decide which tub it should go into. Distinguishing sounds will set students up to be able to decode words more quickly as they learn to read. This automaticity will help students develop confidence and enjoy reading rather than seeing it as a chore. Reading sets students up for success and when students succeed, we all succeed.
