  • An Apple A Day To Learn In New Ways

    Funded Jan 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Because of you, my students have been able to use the classroom ipad for so many more things than I could have ever imagined! So far the students have used it for taking science experiment pictures, creating videos related to what they are learning, using learning apps and so much more! They come into class everyday asking what they are going to be using the iPad for today. My students have become so knowledgeable on how to use the iPad and most of them are completely comfortable using it. They even teach me new things about it! Thank you again for you generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parlett

  • Wobble While We Work

    Funded Jul 7, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom! My students were SO excited to start they year with flexible seating options. They still get excited everyday getting to sit in a comfortable chair! I believe it has helped them focus better in class as well. Getting to sit in chairs that allow them to wiggle and move a little helps them concentrate while I am teaching lessons as well as while they are working on independent work. I could not have provided them these resources without your help. All of my fifth graders and myself appreciate your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parlett

  • Can You Hear Us Now?

    Funded Jan 21, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting me and my students! They were so excited to hear that they would each be getting a set of headphones to use in class! We have put them to good use every day since receiving them! It is so nice for them to be able to complete their work or be on learning programs without being distracted by noises going from the other student's computers. The headphones also allow them to focus and hear their computers more clearly. We are so appreciative of your generosity. Thank you for helping make our classroom awesome!”

  • Time Travel With Books!

    Funded Jan 22, 2022

Social studies is one of my favorite subjects to teach because it allows my students to travel back in time and learn about history! Sometimes it can be a difficult subject to learn because there is just SO much information. Thanks to you, my students are now able to discover the past through books!

The books I chose for them, that you all donated to, have engaged all of my students in what we are learning! They are able to dive deeper into the concepts I am teaching them by reading more about them! Thank you so much for supporting me and my students! It is much appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parlett

  • Surprise Book Delivery

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you so much for allowing me to surprise my students with books that they love! They were excited that they were actually allowed to keep these books. Having these books gave them a sense of a classroom again, since we were learning virtually at the time.

Many of my students did not have access to books at their house and with libraries being closed, it was hard to see them not being able to read an actual book. There were many books online, but there is something special about reading an actual book in your hands.

Thank you again for allowing me this opportunity, as I am sure it is something they will remember!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parlett

  • Enjoying Books at Home and in the Classroom!

    Funded Jul 24, 2020

Thank you again for your generous donations. With you gift, I am able to excite my students about reading even from home! When I received the books I was so excited to show all of my students. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we are still learning from home. But that does not stop us from enjoying the books!

I use the books I received as read aloud books over Zoom! The students are so excited when they get to see the next book we are going to read. It really keeps their love of reading alive.

I am so excited to be able to go back to the classroom when it is safe and put all of our new books in our bookshelf. I know the students are going to love seeing all the new books and picking out one that interests them.

Thank you again for helping my fourth graders!”

  • Books For Our Classroom: Celebrating Students From Different Backgrounds

    Funded Aug 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards by first Donors Choose! This was an amazing opportunity and all of my materials are well loved! These books are especially important in my classroom because I have students from so many different backgrounds as well as reluctant readers. I specifically chose books that were popular as well as those that had main characters with different races, backgrounds, etc. My students can really relate to these characters which is amazing!

My class is full of readers! We have a read 14.2 time which is dedicated to reading, and the students really enjoy it! They spend this time exploring new books in the library and then going off and exploring the world inside the book. I love being able to watch them actually enjoy reading! Thank you so much for your kindness!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Parlett

As a second year teacher, I am still in the process of building my classroom library. I want to be able to give my students books that are at their reading levels as well as those that interest them. The books that I picked out for this project will help instill their love of reading. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and I want to them to be able to relate to the books they are reading. By giving them books that discuss different topics such as divorce, race, poverty, etc., they are able to have more interest in the books they are reading and know that they are not alone. When a student can relate to a book that they are reading, the excitement in their eyes is amazing to see. I want to be able to provide this to my students.
