  • Exciting Ways to Learn!

    Funded May 6, 2020

My students use these items each year that your kindness has given my classroom. Students are able to time themselves with the sand timers, put their skills to the test without realizing with the educational board games, calm themselves with the sensory sand, show their work on the dry erase dots with the dry erase markers, and get excited when they can proudly hold their boards up with their answers. You helped bring new and fun things to my students and I have been able to bring this excitement to many students each year.

Special education students have a hard time with transitions and self-regulation. With new sensory items, you helped my students begin the learning process in how to self-regulate and transition.

Thank you for your kindness and love for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hamm

  • Math Heroes Need Headphones and Mouse Pads

    Funded Nov 3, 2019

I wanted to send you a note to let you know how much the purchased supplies meant to my students in our school. I was beyond excited to receive the supplies. I felt like a child during Christmas when the boxes showed up to our school. I love new supplies, but I also knew how happy my students would be, especially the ones that have been there for three years with the same old supplies. I hurried to my room after school the day they came in and set everything up. The next day was so exciting. By the time the new headphones came in, we were completely out of the old headphones. The students were getting used to not having headphones to use, and finally had stopped asking when we would have new headphones. The excitement on their face when they noticed the new headphones hanging was incredible to watch. Something so small got them so excited. I make each class sit on my carpet so we can go over procedures and talk about what the hour holds, but they were begging to jump in and start. I caved in and let them go enjoy their new supplies!

The program in the Math Lab at our school is so much fun! The students get to play a game, but solve math equations at the same time. They absolutely love it and beg to get on every chance they get, even in their classrooms. They love the music and being able to hear the sound effects. If there is a way to get students excited about work, especially math, we welcome it. The program has brought so much excitement to not only their lives, but mine. I love math and what I do, so seeing the students excited makes me very happy. The fact that the new supplies you graciously gave us made them excited all over again is such a blessing! You will never understand how much you have changed our Math Lab. With the new headphones and mouse pads, it is a completely new space. It is cleaner and more refreshing, the headphones are much more comfortable and durable, and no one refuses to touch the supplies given. Luckily, cleaning wipes were also included, which means we can take care of the supplies and make them last even longer.

Thank you for picking our project and thank you for bring back excitement to our Math Lab. We will be forever grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hamm

Have you ever sat down at a computer, excited to start on your online journey and picked up a taped up headphone with no earpieces? You turn to the right a little, already a bit disappointed, and see a rough looking mouse pad?YIKES!This exciting online journey has now turned into a boring one with no sound, because without earpieces, its just an uncomfortable piece of plastic you do not want on your ear.You may be questioning if you should even touch the dirty and obviously hot glued mouse pad, gross! This is the experience my kids have every nine days when they come to my lab for activity.Don't get me wrong, they have a blast on the computers, but many refuse to put on their headphones because it hurts their ears or pulls their hair (our new set 3 years ago did not come with extra cushions like the previous years).I could replace them at the beginning when one or two would mess up, but now majority of them are broken and I can not afford to buy that many at a time.I also tend to only be able to afford the cheaper headphones which are not the best options in the first place. It is not easy to get a whole set approved through the school, especially with so many other teachers needing supplies. In my computer lab, students have a blast. They are on a program called Imagine Learning.Students play a game, putting them on their level in order to become fluent in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The game has awesome sound effects they love to enjoy and I don't blame them! They often love it so much they beg me to let them play at home. The students do not even realize they are even doing work.
