7th Grade Readers
Funded Sep 30, 2020This donation has added variety of books to my classroom. I have students that are interested in many different topics. This library allowed me to give my students more options to look into.
Also, I have used some of these books as read aloud for my students. While reading I ask questions that are standards based to help them dig deeper and gain a larger understanding of what is going on in each individual book.
Again, thank you to those who donated to upgrade my classroom library. The students and I are in love with our new updated library.”

Funded Jun 29, 2020Thank you so much for your donations. My students have loved the additions to our class library. They have mentioned how much more they have loved reading since we have added more updated and interesting books to our classroom library.
I use the books in many ways for my 7th grade students. It is important that my students know how the series of events in a story connect as well as other literary terms. I use composition notebooks to gather information on their novels. One day I may ask students what the conflict is in their novel. Not everyone's conflict will be the same, but they should be able to spot a conflict and give evidence on why that is the conflict.
My students have really enjoyed these books. I know this because they have conversations with me about what is happening and where they are at in the book. Some students are even making a book ranking list.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you again so much for funding my class library. With these new books, I wanted to create a classroom full of students who love reading as much as I do. With that being said, that requires books that are in students interests. I recently just read "Forged by Fire" to the class. After each chapter, we would have a class discussion. During these class discussions, we could cover almost every standard. We talked about mood, tone, character traits, main idea, and themes. They absolutely loved it and loved talking about it!
Reading has changed a lot in my classroom since these donations supplied my classroom library with new books! During silent reading time, students are actually reading and checking out books from my library.
There are so many students who are reading more and more and gaining the love for reading like I imagined. I've actually had one student who has read eight of the novels that were donated to our classroom! Other students are asking for recommendations of what the best books are to read in the updated class library.
Again, thank you for supplying my classroom with new books and for bringing the love of reading to my class!”

Funded Nov 11, 2019Your kind donations have impacted the students in my classroom tremendously. The whole reason I asked for manila folders, a bean bag chair, and ear buds are because I wanted my students to love reading while also being accountable teenagers. In the classroom, I used the folders for students to track their books that they have read. The folders go into detail such as having students keep up with their reading level, Accelerated Reading points, and growth in reading. The two materials my students love the most are the ear buds and the bean bag chair. In class, when we have independent reading, students use the ear buds to listen to audiobooks on a website called MyOn. The bean bag chair was a really big hit! The students know that the bean bag chair is a place for the "Star Student" to read during individual reading time. This helped a lot with my classroom management.
My students were amazed when they saw the bright pink bean bag chair sitting in the corner by the bookshelf in my room. They were all asking if they could sit on it. The students were also thrilled to see that they had their own ear buds to listen to audio books. Overall, they talked about how awesome the materials were!
The next step for my students is being more accountable. I used these materials to allow my students to be accountable for their own reading goals. I want to push my students to grow and be accountable for their own learning in the future.”

Ms. Short
