Recently named 2019 Texas School Counselor of the Year for Texas School Counselor Association, I have made it my life's purpose to serve my students, parents, and staff as the best counselor I can be! I have been an educator for the past 10 years and I have finally found exactly where I make the most impact. Our world is changing rapidly and more students and families are experiencing various crises more than ever. I have found that as a counselor, it is my divine obligation to provide interactive guidance lessons across all grade levels as well as parent education workshops/talkshows to further enhance preventative coping strategies as well as opportunities for self-change. As I continue to grow seeking workshops, my level of expertise continues to expand and helps to reform and empower the education process on my campus as well as in my district. School counselors are considered to be the "heartbeat" of the school. We hold the power to influence families in their household as well as providing bridges between the system and community. It is my belief that "all means all", and it is my obligation to make sure that every kid has the ability to become resilient and is able to reflect on strategies, tools, and resolutions to meet their own individual positive goals. The more that I grow professionally, the more my school, staff, parents, and community will grow. We continue to grow better as one.
