  • Career Exploration and Entrepreneurial Development

    Funded Mar 13, 2025

Mahalo nui loa for the supplies for our students' career exploration class.

We have a cameo plus and the press and materials for the cameo plus.

Students are working on a business plan and they will be able to make merchandise (stickers, cups, shirts, hats, buttons, signs and more) to promote their 'businesses.'

The camera also helps this as they learn sales and presentation skills for their 'merch.'

The tools we received help give the students hands on training for our PE class bicycles but we also had two scooters donated so students can use the tools to get them up and running.

It is so amazing that the students get hands on real life lessons. They are having fun actually "doing something" (their words) where they can move and learn and have instant proof of what they can do.This allows them to grow and display their creativity which needs to be nurtured and developed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

  • CTE- Careers and Technical Education for Middle School

    Funded Apr 9, 2024

Mahalo nui loa for your generous donation for supplies to prepare for my CTE classes for 8th grade students. Our students are exceptionally curious and like to explore ideas and opportunities especially with 'hands-on' learning. Having materials for them to learn about different careers keeps them engaged and excited about learning and preparing for their future.

In high school they pick a career pathway but many students have limited knowledge about different careers so my class will allow them to learn about different opportunities and they will go into high school knowing more about their interests.”

    Ms. Thomas

  • GAGA Ball!

    Funded Apr 9, 2024

Mahalo nui loa for the Gaga ball equipment. Since the August 8, 2023 fires in Lahaina our students lost a lot - but one thing we could offer them at school was a sense of belonging and togetherness and the bonds they had before the disaster. We had to share space and give up one of our fields for facilities for a temporary school for the beloved elementary school that was lost to the fires, needless to say our field space was limited.

Gaga-ball provided a fun, new experience for all of our PE classes. Three classes had to share one field and a couple of outdoor sports so we worked together to make sure we could have different activities for our different classes which was very inclusive since we also get to accommodate differently-abled students.

Gagaball is new to many of the students and they had a great time learning and playing. Students like new experiences so this was a lot of fun. Small groups rotated through and they got lots of exercise and were able to squat, jump, juke and hop and get a full body workout without even knowing it. Donors choose is so amazing as it allows generous donors to support our students and our school so mahalo nui loa with much Aloha!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

  • Inclusive P.E.

    Funded Feb 14, 2024

I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of inclusive PE bikes and equipment. Your support means the world to us and will have a profound impact on our physical education program. With these specialized resources, we can create a more inclusive environment where every student feels empowered to participate and succeed regardless of their abilities.

The kids were so excited to be able to play with the new equipment. Covid and the fires really affected their ability to get out and play with each other and having more tools for free play lets them live their lives like kids again. The smiles on all of their faces and the eagerness they have for the different activities is rewarding.

The addition of inclusive PE bikes and equipment will not only enhance the overall experience for our students but also promote inclusivity and accessibility within our PE curriculum. These tools will enable us to provide tailored support and accommodations, ensuring that every student can fully engage in physical activities and reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Your contribution reflects a commitment to diversity and equity, and we are incredibly grateful for your dedication to our students' well-being and development”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

  • Fun PE Equipment

    Funded Jan 30, 2024

    Aloha!

Ancient Hawaiians valued health as vital to life:

    Loa'a ke ola i Halau-a-ola ('Ōlelo No'eau, 2017)

"Health is obtained in the House-of-life"

"Life is obtained in the Houseof-health"

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the generous donation of the new PE equipment. Your contribution will make a significant difference in our students' physical education experience. With these resources, our students will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities that promote physical fitness and well-being.

Moreover, your donation will also enable us to enhance inclusivity in our PE program. By providing support and accommodations, we can ensure that all students, regardless of their abilities, can participate fully and enjoyably. This equipment will not only foster a sense of belonging (lokahi) among our students but also promote teamwork (laulima) and cooperation (aloha). Thank you once again for your generosity and commitment to our students' overall development. We are truly grateful for your support. Mahalo nui loa.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

  • Specialized Equipment and Materials for Differentiated Learning

    Funded Dec 5, 2023

Mahalo nui loa for your donation. Because of your generosity our PE department is able to add more inclusive activities to promote health, wellness, movement and fun. Because of covid and the fires in Lahaina August 8, 2023 it was difficult to get supplies and equipment but because of the amazing work of Donor's Choose we are slowly getting back to getting equipment that will help our mission of supporting our keiki.

It is rewarding to give our keiki a place to play and the ability to try new activities. This supports their health as well as their social and emotional learning. Many keiki have struggled but movement and fun is the best way to make them love school and learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

  • Aloha ʻāina

    Funded Oct 25, 2023

It was so amazing receiving the materials from your generous donations. The devastation of the raging fires in Lahaina on August 8, 2023 destroyed our beloved Lahainatown. Thankfully our campus was spared and we eventually got back to school where our students could gather together and have some sense of normalcy and community.

The idea I had to support our community and our keiki (children) was to start planting native/indigenous plants around my classroom. My homeroom (Laulima) class used the starter cups, shovels hose and equipment to plant native plants around our classroom and some spots around campus. It helped them remember what plants they had in their homes that were lost to the fire.

He aliʻi ka ʻāina, he kauwā ke kanaka; The land is a chief, man is her servant. This ʻōlelo noeau is a humble reminder in Hawaiian culture that our land is both a responsibility, and a privilege to us. We understand our duty as a culture to take care of the land that takes care of us. This is helping our students fulfill their kuleana to the ʻāina.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

  • PE Fun!

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

Supporting our keiki with your generosity helps me continue to make PE and learning fun. Our keiki enjoy learning in different ways and the materials/equipment provided allows and supports differentiated learning and reaches each student in a special way.

Student get super excited when we get new equipment - I let them open the boxes and set up equipment. They learn how to care for new items and they feel cared for and that helps them learn. The ability to have more activities keeps learning fresh and exciting and also fun. This is important because it teaches them to look forward to coming to class.

    Mahalo nui loa.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Thomas

My middle school students are hands on visual learners. We would like more learning tools like skeletons to learn about health. We had a skeleton but it melted in the heat. If we get a new one it will help with health class. Health class in middle school was great because it helped some students choose their career pathway in high school. if we get a new skeleton I will make sure to pack it away so it lasts a long time. The original was left in the classroom by another teacher who moved but he did not pack it away propery.
