Special Needs Students Need Printed Materials!
Funded Apr 7, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation so that my class now has access to a printer. With all of our curriculum now being digital, it is very helpful to me and my students to have access to printed resources. My students have a variety of special needs including various learning disabilities. They greatly benefit from printed resources to be able to highlight their reading, show their work right on the page, and make their own connections right on the page. Graphic organizers are also vital to their understanding of a text, but digital ones are so difficult for them to use. Now that graphic organizers can be printed for specific students right in the moment based on their needs, I know their comprehension will improve.
My students have also really enjoyed being able to print their own work out to display it in class. After working so hard on an essay, it is really rewarding for them to have been able to print it and add cover pages to really personalize their work. Being able to print out whatever we need right in the classroom and without hesitation has allowed for greater success overall! This is a gift that will continue to benefit students for many years to come, so I once again thank you so very much!”

Middle Schoolers Need Bare Necessities
Funded Jul 26, 2023My students and I were so excited when the supplies from Donors Choose started coming in! We were overwhelmed with gratitude when we realized that people we don't know have helped support us. These basic supplies are essential to my students' learning, and it means so much to us that they have been provided to us!
So much of learning is digital today, but navigating texts and assignments online can be difficult for my students with special needs. The copy paper and notebooks will be so beneficial for printing stories, taking notes, completing graphic organizers, viewing documents and photographs, and other key elements for a successful lesson.
We also cannot thank you enough for the tissues, lysol wipes, and paper towels. Unfortunately we are not supplied with these basic items, and they are so important for my students, especially as cold and flu season is just around the corner. Helping us stay healthy will help us be present each and every day for school. My students will definitely benefit from continuous learning every day!
Thank you again for your support. It means so much to our middle school class.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Kleenex and 4 other donors.Back to Basics!
Funded Sep 11, 2019I can't begin to express my appreciation and gratitude for the generous donations given to my students. When the boxes came, my students eagerly carried them into my classroom. "People really bought this for us?" They couldn't believe it. I teach three different classes, so I made sure to open a box with each one so they could all share in the joy and excitement. Each class of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders was overjoyed. But it wasn't just the copy paper, the highlighters, the folders...it was the realization that there are people out there who would buy supplies for students they didn't know.
We put the materials to good use right away. So many of my students used the orange and green folders right away to organize their science and social studies materials. Prior to receiving the folders, papers were being shoved into their backpacks or being left behind in desks. With the new folders, the students have become more organized and can easily find the worksheets they need when they study or work independently. The post-it notes are also a big hit in science and social studies. The students often work as a team to answer a question or reflect on a concept. The post-its allow them to jot down their ideas before sharing with the class. Middle schoolers also LOVE highlighters. As their teacher, so do I! They add an element of enjoyment for the students while they highlight key ideas that help them to pick out important concepts. The white copy paper has already gone such a long way for my students. I am able to design and print worksheets, articles, and graphic organizers that are created specifically for my students. With access to personalized material designed with their needs in mind, the students have been able to write on, highlight, and mark up the copy paper which allows them take ownership of their work.
As the school year progresses, with the help of your generous donation, my students can continue to utilize these basic materials to master 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science and social studies concepts. Next week, for example, my 7th graders are going to use the post-it notes, highlighters, and copy paper to analyze the Bill of Rights while connecting it to their own lives. This is all made possible with your kindness and support of education. Thank you so very much!”
