  • Twenty Year Old Dramatic Play Center in Need of Updating!

    Funded Jan 24, 2024

When we replaced the kitchen with the modern appliances the students were so excited! It came with an ice maker in the frig door that makes real noise and drops pretend ice cubes. The stove and oven make noise and lights up. The stove vent makes noise and lights up too. The microwave also has lights and sounds.

We had to set up certain groups with time limits the first week it was in such high demand! The students love pretending to cook and fix drinks! We have heard many conversations centered around the kitchen set while students played. Now the students are better at sharing it and it is back to being a free choice center! Thank from the teachers and students for the update!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Katy

  • Cozy, Creative, Carpets for Centers!

    Funded May 9, 2023

Just a note to share how your donation has affected my students. The drama center carpet is so soft the students sometimes just lay on it and feel the texture. It has added another layer to their play. The science carpet has started many conversations about space, planets, stars, and created a place for students to imagine and create. The math center carpet has started many conversations about math and literacy. It is also very soft and the students love to lay on it and talk about the graphics. The new carpets have added a more comfortable and colorful feel to the classroom. They have allowed the students to be more creative and has increased their interest in different topics through out the classroom!

Thanks again for caring about children and their learning,”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Katy

  • Preschool Rocks!

    Funded Aug 8, 2020

Our classroom has loved using the new table to match the others in the room. We have small groups by color of table. We added see through plastic guards to help keep students from spreading germs during these trying pandemic times. We also use the tables for meals and snacks now that we are eating in the classroom instead of the cafeteria. The students enjoy learning their color table groups and having a space all of their own. Each seat has their picture and name.

The activity center keeps all our table top activities more organized and available to the students as needed. It also serves as a focal point for whole group learning for the teacher to interact with both sides of the classroom. Our class due to pandemic has been divided into two groups to keep numbers smaller. This focal shelf allows for teaching and learning to take place with both groups at the same time.

The students love to paint, and the wall mount easel takes up less classroom space yet gives them the space and materials needed to be creative and express themselves through art work. The art center is a number one favorite center!

We are moving towards the Christmas and Winter season, so keeping sickness down and learning moving forward are of great concern right now. We will be doing a lot of art projects involving fun themes accordingly.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Katy

  • Safety and Exploration for Pre-K Success

    Funded Aug 6, 2019

We are making the most out of our new materials. The cot sheets replaced old ones that were torn or broken which allow our students to rest more comfortable and safely! The Tabletop Light Panel and Magna-Tiles Starter Set have been so much fun. It allows the students to explore in a new way preschool concepts. The Jumbo Cardboard Blocks are a favorite item in our block center. They encourage creativity and building skills. The Float & Find Alphabet Bubbles add a new way to interact with letters in the water center. The Real Bugs Discovery Kit helps with the students hands-on learning of the environment around them. Last, but not least, the Wikki Stix Alphabet Center has also brought a new way to explore with letters, specially using fine motor skills and learning letter formations.

The students have been very excited each time we bring out something new! Several students commented on how nice it was to have new cot sheets because they didn't like the broken ones. The light table and tiles have brought about a lot of peer interactions in ways that have encouraged higher order thinking skills. One students commented this was the coolest toy they had ever seen! The Float and Find Alphabet Bubbles have been a hit in the water center and brought about comments such as these bubbles are cool and they like finding the first letter in their name. The Discovery Bug Set we will be bring out in the Spring and are looking forward to the excitement it brings to their learning. The Wikki Sticks we are using with the older students to begin letter formation. The students comment that they feel funky and are bendy.

We hope to add more tiles to the light center and discovery science sets in the future to continue to grow the students interests and capture their imagination while learning and exploring during play.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Katy
