Learning Through Exploration
Funded Dec 30, 2014When my students found out we were receiving materials for their stations they were beyond excited and could not wait to explore them. Then when the time came to use them they had the best time. They could not wait their turn to use the play-dough with the letter and number cutters. I saw the joy they displayed by being completely engaged with their new resources.
My students and I are using these materials on a weekly basis during their group learning time. They are able to engage themselves as well as work together at their station. Each student is able to have their own bag of play-dough and they are able to choose from a variety of number and or letter cutters. Students are able to name the letters and numbers as well as classify them. They are making simple words on their own and at the same time owning their learning. My students have had the pleasure of also using the teacher stool as an author's chair on a daily basis. Students are called to the front of the class to sit and read their journal out loud and sitting on the stool gives them a sense of importance. My class has also used the drying rack when we make art and this has saved a lot of space in my classroom. When we wanted our art to dry we would spread it all over the classroom until it eventually dried but now we don't have to, we just place it on the drying rack and we don't have to worry about it at all. We love it!
The new resources have helped in a way where my students are having fun but are at the same time learning. They are building words and reading them. They want to have an opportunity to use the resources to show off what they know to their friends as well as me, their teacher. They have helped all of my students and I know they will continue to help throughout the rest of the year. The stool has also helped tremendously with their oral skills. Many students are shy when it comes to sharing their stories out loud but having something so simple as a stool has helped boost their confidence and for that I am grateful. The smiles on my students faces says it all.”

Classroom Full of Resources
Funded Apr 21, 2014I would like to extend my gratitude for your generous donation to our classroom. The library seat cushions do not only look great they are a great motivator for students to go and read a book. They truly enjoyed the vibrant colors as well as the added comfort it gave them while being at the class library. My students equally loved the puzzles for our class stations. They were super excited when they learned we were receiving them. When they finally got to use them they were very involved in putting them back together. Puzzles are something a class with young students need, not just to motivate but to let them know that learning is fun. I truly appreciate the learning videos that are used on a daily basis since they involve a lot of music and at the same time they get to review basic concepts while the students eat their breakfast. The magnetic board is also used on a daily basis and is used for one of our class stations. They use magnetic letters to make and read words. It is truly a great tool to have in our classroom.
As a teacher I truly face big challenges in getting new resources into my classroom but with your donation it has made it a little easier. I know that my future students for the coming year and for years to come will continue to enjoy all of the resources donated by you. These are essential resources that all young children need to have in a classroom.
Once again thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. We are truly blessed to know that you are helping our young scholars experience success in their education.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Castillo
