As mentioned, my students can move freely from their free choice areas as they like. All I ask is that they clean up their area and put their materials away. With 20 small bodies using the learning materials every single day, it is important that the storage for these materials is child-friendly and most importantly durable. Not having enough storage has caused some of our learning materials and toys to be thrown away as they are often misplaced or broken. This past year I had all of our table toys displayed on a table, which made it look cluttered, and the materials on the table were constantly falling on the floor. The 3 shelf storage would be the new home for all of our puzzles and games, making it more accessible and easier for my students to clean up.
Along with providing more storage, you would be helping me set up a new science center for my students. As of last year, I had a designated area for my science center but I didn't have the storage for all of the materials and the students could not use it to its full potential. This year I want to make sure that my students are able to use the science table as a daily free choice option. The cubby unit with clear containers will make it easier for my students to see all of the available materials and keep them organized throughout the year!
