Our students will use Legos to build letters, numbers, high frequency words, counting, solve word problems, and to communicate with oral language as they work together in pairs or small groups. I like to attach the solid plates to the back of a book case and use the pieces in a center. They will also be great during Math whole group lessons to teach 1 more, 1 less, place value, number bonds, graphs etc. The cultural pieces will allow students to feel welcomed from other cultures and be able to relate so they don't feel alone. I can see children playing pretend together as they talk with each other.
