Our school requires that each student carry a three-ring binder and personal school supplies with them to each class. The binders serve as a tool for and accumulation of learning. When a student walks into their math class, for example, the teacher will ask them to turn to the math section of their binders and take our their notes from yesterday. Then when the teacher assigns homework for the night, the student will use one of his or her folders to store the homework. Then they bring their binders to and from school everyday. It's an effective system that teaches personal organization and responsibility. The only downside is when a students' family cannot afford such supplies. Donating to this project will ensure that each child, regardless of their family's income, will start the school year on equal ground. Your donation will enable the focus of each class to be on learning, and not on who does or doesn't have their pencils or notes. Providing our students with these basic building blocks will help them achieve the kind of success that wealthier, more metropolitan school districts do. Instead of a student sitting mutely through a lesson with no supplies at hand, our students will be able to contribute, challenge themselves, and grow each day!
