Funded Sep 13, 2020We once again thank you so very much for your selfless act. In these trying times, your simple gesture has had a big impact on the students. Just knowing that someone out there is thinking of them and want to see them succeed has meant a great deal.
These devices have solely been used in computer science classes, both in an entry-level class as well as in an Advanced Placement class. The students who have been using these devices did not have their own technology to use in the classroom and at home. Students who tried to get by with their cell phones grew increasingly frustrated at their many shortcomings.
Once they got the new devices in their hands, it was like night and day. They were excited again with coding, they were able to see their work come alive on the screen, and not have to wait as they did with slower older machines the city had lent them.
These devices came just in the nick of time, right before the city shut down our school again, I was able to ensure two students who were in serious need of a working device were able to take it home and use while we continue with distance learning. Hopefully, we will all be back in the classroom again, learning together and using these devices to level the playing field and shrink the tech. divide.”
