In a world of video games, social media, and YouTube, I need help turning my students' attention toward books! One of my biggest priorities in my 11th grade English class is to help my students develop the desire to read for enjoyment! In order to show my students the unparalleled joy that reading can bring to their lives, I need to provide them with excellent young adult novels that will absolutely HOOK them! Help me get my students excited about reading by contributing to my classroom library (thrift store books and library sales can only get a teacher so far)! I scoured several "Top 100 YA Novels" lists, and I came up with the selection on this list. There is just something about a beautiful boxed set of novels that particularly captures a teen's interest. I think it might be the prospect of escaping into a well-built world for even longer than the length of one novel. For this reason, I included several lovely boxed sets to this list. I also paid special attention to excellent female YA authors who create strong female protagonists because BOTH my female and male students need more examples of strong women of consequence in their reading lives! Thanks for helping me get my students hooked on the idea of reading for enjoyment!
