  • Visualizing Music!

    Funded Jul 28, 2019

There are not enough words or any words that suffice in any language to explain how grateful my students and I are for your generosity and love for music education.

My students were extremely happy when they saw that there was a big whiteboard on the stage, and that I didn't have to use large parchment paper taped on the wall anymore. They truly appreciate the small whiteboards because they use them to write on and they love using the dry-erase markers and erasers. Again, thank you so much!

Because of your donations, my students have a full 2-sided functioning classroom sized white board with music staff lines already on it and are able to understand every task during band. When musical concepts need to be explained further beyond verbal instruction having the whiteboard to draw visuals is the perfect solution. The mini whitebaords with markers and erasers are perfect when we practice our intervals for ear training. I play each interval and my students write their answer on their whiteboards and then raise them to show me their answers. Also, as another use because there are no desks on the stage, the whiteboards are used as little tables to write on when my students have worksheets or written tests to complete.

Currently, my students are learning Winter Holiday songs to go caroling around the school before winter break. Because we have been able to work on indetifying our intervals, they are making connections with their intervals to the popular winter songs that they know. They also have begun to work on their Major Scales which most definitely helps explain more what are musical intervals while training their ears at the same time. When the new semester starts next year, they will be getting ready for the big school district zone concert in March. Again, we have to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts because with our donated materials, we are able to prepare and be ready to perform our best for every concert and performance.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lauron

  • Drumming Our Way to Greatness!

    Funded Sep 18, 2019

I am excited to say that our Drum Set project got funded and it was all because of you!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your donation and your support will not go unnoticed as my students learn to become not only great musicians, but wonderful adults as well. Seriously, I cannot thank you enough to tell you how grateful I am!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lauron

Band class is something most of my students hadn't even heard of until the end of last year. The area I am teaching is just restarting to build its arts program, and thus the resources for music classes are limited. I am currently teaching on the small stage in the cafeteria, and there are no whiteboards or other basic materials available to students. I don't even have a desk or have room for one. So having whiteboards in the class is essential to be able to visually teach my students music. I just want to be able to give my students the best music education possible and keep their love for the arts. Since I do not have a whiteboard installed on the wall, I need one that is mobile so it can roll on and off the stage, big enough to write enough subject material, and one that is specific to teaching music hence the music staff lines already drawn on there. I not only want to teach my students how to read and play music, but begin to expose them to the theory of music: how music is written, and how to audibly identify music concepts (ear training). With the small whiteboards I can do individual and group ear training exercises. For example, I will play two notes on a keyboard and the students must identify, by listening only, the interval of the notes, write their answer on their whiteboard, and raise the board to show their answer. My students will need dry erase markers and erasers as well to be able to participate.
