With the school year returning to an in person setting, these young gardeners look forward to getting started early in the school year. The ease and convenience of the hydroponic garden will allow for that. Student gardening promotes social emotional development allowing the students to become more self aware, socially aware, and responsible decision makers. The purchased items will allow the students to plan, assemble and maintain a hydroponic garden. One of the first lessons will be to research the benefits of the hydro garden. The next would be to learn about the functioning parts of the hydroponic garden. Eventually deciding what grows best in this type of garden. Later lessons will be planning and creating vertical tower gardens for sproutlings. There are many benefits of hydroponic gardening. One is not needing soil. The most expensive purchase of both our raised bed garden and our container garden was the soil. Soil delivery and the labor of moving the soil to the planters or beds was another challenge. In addition, hydro gardening will allow for growing almost anywhere! Sometimes classes did not have access to an area for a raised bed or an assortment of containers for a garden. This style of garden allows for indoor gardens and even the ability to grow vertically.
