Robotics in the Computer Science Classroom: The World of Learning!
Funded Jul 17, 2023My students have become coding explorers with the Botley robots. They are enjoying creating code to watch Botley move about. They especially love the challenges I assign that gets them in competitive mode. I'm happy to see my reluctant students take a risk as they try coding with Botley.
The Legos have been perfect for creating mini engineers out of my Kindergarten and some of my first graders. Some have even created strong building structures, showing off their keen eye for construction.
All this could not have been made possible if not for those who truly care about ALL students. Your donations have truly made an impact in my classroom and for my students. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Vazquez-Reyes

Funded Dec 5, 2022I'm excited to say that I've begun using the Lego's and the Coding and Robotics resources we received from you for our Coding Unit for grades K - 2. The lessons for the Legos are easy to follow. I've incorporated the use of these resources for all students in grades K-2, due to their independent student abilities. I have to say that the impact these resources have made have not only taught me about how well students respond to being explorers and creators, but how well they can persevere through the challenges of building/engineering and creating codes. Even my autistic children have shown me what their strengths are in computer science.
When we finally received the materials, the students couldn't wait to start working on coding. In one of the first lessons for coding, students worked on building the robot and hammy and creating their first code. It was wonderful watching them figure out where they went wrong in building the robots and then watching them persevere to build them correctly. It was a delight watching them create the code and watching PBJ move! The smiles on their faces was priceless!
Now that they've gotten past the first lesson, my students look forward to the future lessons in coding, as am I. Future lessons will incorporate creating codes with bugs so that they may learn to be debuggers.”
