Stock Our Classroom!
Funded Aug 26, 2022I was so grateful to receive such a needed project. I am often scrambling to try to find supplies for my students or searching for deals so I can afford class sets of items on my own. This year it was so great to be able to have the supplies sent directly to me with no hassle.
My students have loved using the supplies in their learning. Much of them are at their table and they have learned to care for them on their own. They use a majority of the items on a daily or weekly basis for ELA and Math practice and comprehension lessons. Their favorite items are the scissors which I color coordinated with their table colors.
Thank you for allowing me to give them the supplies needed to enforce their learning and teaching them about responsibility at the same time.”

Learn and Earn!
Funded Jun 22, 2022We are so grateful for you to have given us the pleasure of bringing the students happiness! It was amazing to see the excitement and happiness when the students walked into the media center that we transformed into a store!
Every student was able to walk out with an item they were happy with and one that I am sure will be cherished for some time! They were happy to learn that they could save up unused dollars for next time and get even larger or more items! This is such a great way not only to show them not only does hard work and good behavior pay off, yet the value of money as well.
Thank you for bringing this special moment to our students.”

Funded May 6, 2022Thanks to your generous donations we have been able to implement a safer dismissal procedure. The staff has been able to feel more at ease having a system in place that can be activated easily even when there are substitutes and so forth.
We are still keeping students in separate halls to help with spreading germs so being able to use the microphone helps the staff to locate students with more ease. The eraseable boards helps us to quickly know of any transportation changes.
Thank you for bringing us more peace of mind.”

Funded Apr 7, 2022My students have enjoyed learning about real people that have made an impact on our society.
They love to watch clips on you-tube and then be able to look at more details in the pictures. We use a book for the week to make sure that they are learning as much as they can about these figures. I read it out loud to them and they have time to explore the books in small groups as well.
September and October we focus on the Latino culture for out Hispanic Heritage events. January and February our purpose is on African Americans as we have a Black History event and art displays.
You can tell they truly enjoy seeing characters who "look like them" represented in the books. Thank you for giving my students something to look forward to and learn from.”

Funded Mar 3, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity for my classroom. I do apologize for the delay in this note, these last few school years have been rough to say the least. Your donation however, has not been forgotten.
The document camera was such a blessing to have while on line to assist the students in seeing the forms and examples. Before the donation I was holding up worksheets to the computer camera and often it was too small, light or blurry. The document camera allowed me to make it larger and more clear, which also made the writing appear darker.
Once coming back to school I was given an ESL classroom. The document camera has assisted these students so much as they are not able to understand most of what I am speaking so the examples on the board are their main way of learning.
Your generosity has allowed me to be a better teacher, thank you again.”

Teaching With Technology
Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much for your understanding of this need and donating to my students.
My district has yet to return to in person classes, yet I am still utilizing the tablets! I use one as my teacher tablet and as Alexa to set timers and play music to keep us on track. This is so useful as I already have many, many tabs open!! I have even used this for fun social time. We will ask Alexa a question and see what fun results we get from it. During virtual learning we use Zoom for our classroom. Many teacher use break out rooms to help students with collaboration and to give them time to work as a small group. By using a couple of the tablets, I can have 3 break out rooms at the same time! I simply lean two of the tablets on the second monitor and log in. I then add each tablet to the breakout rooms and I can see and interact with the students in all the rooms!
The extra monitor is so wonderful to be able to see each student even while accessing material or having a video playing. The students were so excited when I showed it to them! I really helps with the flow of class when I can see everyone at once!
I am looking forward to having the students in class soon and using the tablets for center and testing! The cases with be a great protectant and help keep them safe and easy to clean!”

Funded May 17, 2020This was such a fun project for me. As a first year teacher I was saddened that my year had been cut short due to Covid. I wouldn't see my students walk across the stage in their graduation caps and most importantly I wouldn't be able to see their maximize growth compared to the begining of the school year.
This project allloted me to turn something sad into a celebration. I put on my graduation cap and my mask and I delivered these packages to my students. They waved at me from their windows or their porches with huge smiles. This was probably the most rewarding and happiest days of the year for me. Many of the parents sent me pictures of the students holding their certificates and enjoying a cake or other reward the parents made for their students Kindergarten graduation. I even got pictures throughout the summer of the students working in their math books!
These bags brought smiles, the sense of accomplishment and a way to learn easily when so much uncertainty surrounded my families. Thank you for allowing this bit of peace in our lives.”

Funded Jun 9, 2020These book donations have helped my students understand that everyone is different, and those differences are what makes us beautiful and wonderful.
Although my district has chosen to wait until January to go back to in person class I have been able to read these books with the students over Zoom. We even did a celebration day of what we like about ourselves where we drew pictures of what makes us special. I was able to share the YouTube links to a few of these books online as well for the parents to read more in depth with the students so they could talk about a deeper level of who they are.
One book ABC I Like Me was in the district plan to be read, but the version supplied was with Caucasian students, having the verision with the African American Students added an extra lesson to the story as we compared and contrasted the two.
Thank you for validation my students amazing differences and helping them to be proud of who they are.”

Stress-Free Students!
Funded Dec 4, 2019I am so honored to have had this project funded. The students greatly enjoyed the many ways that we were able to incorporate yoga into our classroom. We had a set yoga time everyday after recess. This helped the students get their minds back to where they needed to be for learning. We also had a moments in the day where we would read a book and reflect on it, or practice breathing techniques. Now that we are home I give them a weekly tip to remember to take time to breathe or reflect. I urge them to practice this with their grown ups in hopes the relaxation will spread to them all.
I used the small fidget items on many occasions yet the most impact it had is with one student in particular. When we would go to assemblies they were very disruptive. I began allowing them to take an item from the break box as we called it and allowed them to take the item to the assemblies. The third attempt at doing this the child was able to sit with the class for the entire hour assembly with no disruptions! Having these items gave them just that distraction they needed in order not to be so overly stimulated by the goings on around them.
I have used this time home to reflect on my own as well and am very excited about ideas I have come up with in order to incorporate yoga and relaxation into more parts of the day. I am most excited about using the yoga mats as the students "safe" area and allowing them even more time on technology. Perhaps even getting yoga apps downloaded so they can continue to work on their own personal goals in the classroom.”

Funded Sep 13, 2019I have one student in my class who came in not knowing one word of English. He knew how to count, colors, and alphabet in Spanish yet could not understand anything that was being told to him in the language used in the classroom.
I used the language translator to talk to the student throughout the day. The students became so interested in this that they too took the devie to talk with him. It was so easy to use that this was very fun for them and bridged a huge gap in social development. It also assisted this child in their education I am proud to announce that they now know every letter in English, every color in English and can already count to 30 in English ! I feel that the translating device was key to his success !
I have also used this device with parents. It came in very handy during conferences and even when parents come to drop off their students or pick them up ! It is great to be able to have that personal connection with my parents despite the language barrier. I even had a few parents telling other staff how much they appreciate how I communicate with them ! This was very touching for me especially as a first year teacher !
The microphone has become a way to get students involved that otherwise dont want to open up. They want to come up to the front just to use the microphone, especially when we get silly and turn on the echo !
This has also helped me with a student that we found out has a severe hearing deficit in one ear. The speech and language teacher was going to recommend using a communication enhancing system then said I already do !
Your thoughts, support and generosity have helped form my classroom into a kind and welcomng commuity and for that I am beyond grateful !”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rees
