The majority of the funds for this project will go towards creating an age-appropriate classroom library, complete with bins for each student. My goal is to provide my students with a library full of engaging, multicultural leveled texts that will allow them to pick "just right" fiction and nonfiction books that are of interest to them. Impressionable minds need engaging resources to foster a love for learning. Students retain knowledge best through interactive learning that connects them to the world around them. This project will also help fund materials to support hands-on learning experiences such as objects to use as math counters, sentence-building puzzles, and Bananagrams for word-building exercises. It would also provide sensory toys and activities like interlocking blocks, a mini trampoline, buildable marble tracks, and large LEGOs for problem solving strategies and fine motor skill development. Lastly, items like dry erase markers, plastic sheet covers, sticky notes, filing dividers, etc. will give me the necessary supplies to teach daily lessons and stay organized.
