I am hoping to create a classroom culture where my students are excited to come to school. Many of my students face hardships at home, and I would like school to be a place where they feel safe and excited to learn new things. Having flexible seating options will allow my students with ADHD to better focus during class. The flexible seating also allows for an environment where my pupils will feel like they have control of their learning which empowers them to become independent learners. It is not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings - Ann landers. Reading and writing can be a tedious task for any person who has not had the opportunity to practice and explore all these subjects have to offer. When we are teaching 8 and 9 year old students, we have to find ways to make learning fun and engaging. These students need to see that education opens a bright new door of opportunities for them. My goal is to help inspire them to chase their dreams to break the cycle of poverty in their families. This starts with a strong foundation for a love of reading and writing. These two skills carry over in every subject they will take throughout their educational careers. I believe the colorful pens, games, and STEM activities will help to achieve this goal.
