This is the dialogue I want to foster in my Critical Reading classroom. I wish to see them huddled around the classroom library, chatting about the latest chat story they read on the tablet.
I want to see them engaging in passionate Socratic seminars about Snapchat and privacy settings, the issues at our boarder, about how hydroponic farming is the farming of the future. When the material is relevant to their lives, they will want to read it, thus growing in confidence, self-esteem, and as lifelong readers.
